Gag me:
Fortunately for the City of St. Louis, Missouri will be represented by
two senators — a junior Democrat in the Senate’s majority and a senior
Republican in the Senate’s minority — who understand the importance of
federal attention and resources to the challenges and opportunities of
urban America.
Ever since Mayor Slay neglected to endorse Derio Gambaro for
4th District State Senate in the Missouri primary, he has not been a friend of mine. How are we supposed to take this man seriously and believe that he is deeply committed to bipartisan efforts when just a few weeks ago he had
a poll on his website suggesting that Talent be shipped off to the moon?? I hope St. Louisans are smart enough to realize this is a crock. (H/T to
John.)

Murtha? I'm with
Allah on this one:
What better way to assuage fears about Democrats being too dovish and
anti-military than to back America’s foremost spokesman for cut and run
— who once famously pronounced Haditha a case of murder
“in cold blood” while the investigation was still ongoing?

Missouri National Guard serves the people of Afghanistan. (H/T to
John...again.) Thank you for your honor and
noble duty.
Oh, and it is official:
I am volunteering to adopt a soldier through Soldier's Angels. Y'all should consider the commitment, too. Why now, you ask? In his speech at Arlington National Cemetery on Veterans' Day, President Bush encouraged Americans to volunteer to support our troops (at veterans' hospitals and the like). What can I say? I was inspired.

This is pretty frightening. Perhaps the slogan should be changed from "Broadcast Yourself" to "Broadcast Your Violent Criminal Group."

Dave at the KC Buzz Blog seems suspicious of Adrian Fenty's youth. As a pseudo-resident of the District of Columbia, I completely understand. I'm not sure how much youth has to do with it, though; I think any mayor around these parts is to be a bit suspect. The city has improved in general over the last ten years, but that certainly doesn't mean I sleep easy. (
This, for example, is happening in my backyard. I will not be driving alone at night for awhile...)

Democrats: Put up or shut up! (You guessed it--
John.)
The Democrats have spoken, the people listened, and now it's time for the Democrats to do a little listening of their own.
Long
before Tuesday's midterm election, the Democrats repeatedly bombarded
us with their anti-Republican message of "throw the bums out." The
Republicans got us into war we can't win, the Democrats said. The
Republicans raped Medicare, they said. The Republicans alienated the
United States from the rest of the world, they said.
[...] If the Democrats want to blast Republicans for
their support of the war in Iraq, then they had better be prepared to
offer a solution to the war and accept responsibility for whatever Iraq
becomes as a result.
If the Democrats want to steer this nation
in a new direction, then they had better be prepared to endure some
backseat driving instructions if that path proves unpalatable to the
American people. If the Democrats have plans for Medicare, Social Security, illegal immigration and homeland security, let's hear them.
Run, don't walk, to read the rest of this. It's simple and to the point. (Maybe the Democrats could take a lesson from that, too.) Nicely done, JeffCo Journal.

"Ban religion completely?" Brilliant, Sir Elton. Just brilliant.

Tony Messenger: Journalism is changing. (One last
H/T...) The changes in journalism come at a great time in our world, err... my world. I'm really getting attached to this thing and I hope to continue blogging for some time.

That's all for now, folks. I'll be back later.
