That's certainly
what the AP wants you to think.
Check out this lede:
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Gov. Matt Blunt said today he has yanked
funding for two Planned Parenthood clinics that were providing free
health screenings for poor women through a state program.
Don't you admire the
humble professionalism exhibited in their word choice? The verb
"yank" just isn't used enough these days.
You have to
read the whole article to really feel the love from the AP.
Oh, and notice that the
last line of the story mentions that the program will expand to screen more women at the less-controversial health centers.
Personally, I think I would have made the headline "Gov. Blunt expands
women's health screenings" and the sub-headline "Ends contract with
Planned Parenthood." The fact that the program is expected to expand is much more relevant to the average woman in Missouri.
